Meet Our Lead Pastors
Pastor Matthew was born in England and moved to America in 1984. For five years he toured with his parents and sister ministering in churches up and down the east coast singing & preaching as a family. He settled in the region in 1990 moving to Elizabethton, TN his senior year of high school & finally to Glade Spring, VA in 1995.
Pastor Matthew and Cherish were married May 17, 2003 and are a great team ministering together. While Cherish tends to work more in the background she plays a vital role in keeping the “wheels turning” in numerous capacities. Cherish was born and raised in Southwest Virginia and her country roots run deep. She is adored by her husband and loved by those who know her. They are the proud parents of three beautiful girls, Evie , Eliana, and Emilie.
Pastor Matthew served 14 years as youth pastor and assistant pastor for 2 years, serving his father, John Chapman, the founding pastor. He became the lead pastor on April 17, 2011. He also has an insurance business specializing in company benefits that was established in August of 1994. His favorite scripture is Ephesians 4:11-12, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” He believes that his role is to provide tools and training to believers so that God can more fully use them in the calling upon their life. We are the body of Christ and for the body to be healthy, it is vital that we all function as God intended for us to function. There are no big “I’s” and little “you’s” in the kingdom of God. All are vitally important.
