Resurrection Day, Resurrected!

I can't tell you how good today felt!    When I spoke at the end of January about the vision for 2021 I said then that I couldn't really see any further than Easter Sunday this year and that I was praying that God would "resurrect, resurrection day!"    I didn't realize at the time that I would begin having the health issues I am dealing with now so soon after that Sunday in January and now I understand why God didn't give me a clear vision beyond Easter Sunday.    I remember so clearly what Easter Sunday was like last year when I pre-recorded my Easter sermon on the Saturday, uploaded it to Facebook & You Tube and watched it with my family on the couch in our den down in our basement.   It was probably the hardest Sunday I can remember.     To make it worse we went to Walmart later that day and the place was packed and I felt real anger that people were able to go to a store during a shut down but couldn't attend church on Easter Sunday!

But today, today was dramatically different.    The energy in the church was contagious, felt like a pep rally.   Seats were full and we had to bring out more.   Worship was charged.   Communion was anointed.   Special songs were beautiful and the one by Keith & Sarah was so moving, especially with him playing the finished guitar that he and Asher had begun building.   I felt so much energy when I got up to preach about the cycle of resurrection.   Admittedly I was pretty wiped out afterwards but it was worth it, just to be there with my church family, in person, celebrating our risen Lord!   The 8 people that raised their hands to commit or recommit their lives to Christ was more than the icing on the cake it made the vision complete, God had resurrected, resurrection day!!

As I shared at church this morning Philippians 3:10-11 describes the cycle of resurrection.   Resurrection, suffering, death, and resurrection.    The life of Christian begins with resurrection when God makes us a "new creature" in Him (2 Cor. 5:17).   Following our new birth with Him suffering and sometimes death does follow but it always comes back to resurrection again.  That will be the cycle for a believer until we are ultimately resurrected forever in our eternal home.    I know that I am in the middle of that cycle right now and I know that resurrection is coming for me.  I'm going to continue to hold on to His promises and His hand and let Him bring me to resurrection in His time and His way.   I am praying the same thing for all of you.  If you are truly born again you know what resurrection is.  Let it give you hope that resurrection will come again.   If you are walking a painful path remember it is only temporary (2 Cor. 4:18). There remains a great resurrection for us in this life and in the life to come!

I'm so grateful for this great 2021 resurrection day and am truly excited to see what God is going to do in all of our lives through the rest of this year.   I don't have a clear vision for what comes next but I know Who does and I know He will lead us into His plan and purpose for our lives.  We've just to got to trust and obey Him, He will do the rest.
